I'm thinking mainly gaming here, with the option to run in either full-screen or windowed mode. If all the graphic elements making up the game, side consoles, etc must be created to a certain size and layout, its a lot of work to create alternate graphics and layout for every conceivable monitor ...

I never use the debugger, I just put commands in my script like

That way I can monitor only the variables I want to watch (using the messagebox) - I find Rev's Variable Watcher isn't updated frequently enough to be truly useful. Inserting a pointless answer ...

Firstly let me say "WOW!!!!!" to the current offer I received from Rev via email, which will let me finally buy it for £45 ($112 AU) instead of the normal $550 AU. The problem is now solved. It wasn't the special characters in the filepath, it was the fact that iTunes has all the songs from a particular album in a folder of that name inside the folder I was looking in. Duh, my mistake entirely... I was missing one whole element of the filepath in my Open ...
