Re: Automatic Caller
For those assuming the worst, here is a view from someone who prefers to assume the best: There are appropriate uses for tools like this, such as the system our school district uses to contact parents with important information. It's used for anything from announcing snow days to PTA meetings, and w...

Re: Splashstack and datastack for iPhone
This set-up is important to understand since when you change the data stack in Livecode and then use it in the Simulator or the actual device, the new Data stack will NOT be copied to the documents folder, only the Splash stack is replaced. So this has an important consequence: WHENEVER YOU CHANGE ...

Re: arrayDecode - iOS glitch?
See my thread "iOS arrayencode bug?" on the developers' list... I haven't tried it yet myself becasue I discovered if you save your array as a customproperty of a substack all is fine. Still, If it is not fixed you should alert Ben. OK, I think I'll never find that thread because I'm not in the dev...

arrayDecode - iOS glitch?
OK, I hope this makes sense... After much hair-pulling, I finally figured out that the reason that my app appeared to (recently begin to) lose all its data was just that there's something that will cause a text file to no longer to be decodable into its array. There's no result, it just fails at "pu...

Re: Upload Files to S3 or Cloud Files
I don't have an answer, but I love the way you figure that if didn't get an answer the first time, you should ask again "LOUDER". Don't think that'll really help.

Re: Deploying Without App Store
Considering just how advanced Apple is at this point you just have to ask, (is there not an easier way to get this done) I suppose the logical answer is yes and that means that this is intentional. Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation, then of course it's intentional, and I don't think DRM has...

Re: importing a list of names
Thanks again, Bernd. I'll play around with that. It doesn't -- to me -- necessarily "feel" easier than emailing a list, but if it works, it has my method beat hands down.

Re: importing a list of names
Well, right now, for a teacher to enter a class roster in my app, they have to type each name separately. That's OK for a single class of 36 names, but many teachers have upwards of 200 students throughout the day, and typing that many names in on an iDevice requires more patience than I think most ...

Re: importing a list of names
Oh? Well, I'll have to look into that, then, thanks. I had assumed that there was no solution to a multi-line copy/paste since there was no response to Peter's query a while back. If it works for multiple lines of text, then it'll do the trick. Off to hunt down related documentation! ETA: Ok, that w...

importing a list of names
OK, I know this is a flaw in similar apps to what I'm creating, so I'm not overly concerned, but I would prefer to solve this if possible: Do you have any recommendations for allowing users to import a list of names? Since copy/paste won't work within the app, the best I can come up with is directin...

Re: tuning for speed
I would say that depends on the grade :) but seriously of course data integrity is more important than zippyness, I agree. Haha, I can imagine it: "if tGrade >= 70 then saveMaster..." If you feel like it you might want to post the script of the button that you feel has the biggest lag. Thanks, agai...

Re: iPad blasphemy
My opinion of the iPad: too big to be convenient, too small/limited to be useful. If I didn't receive the use of one through work, I wouldn't have one (sticking with my iPhone and laptop). I use my iPad mainly to watch tv in the bathroom. (Seriously, I hardly use it at work, still preferring my iPho...

Re: Hello. New and can't find good baby steps
Here's my input in tutorials and documentation: They go from 0 to 120. I mean, really, the geometry manager is part of "basic"? What I've easily found basically jumps from "hello world" to developing a game, with little in between. The course I'm taking (which I have to say is woefully lacking compa...

Re: tuning for speed
Hi witeowl, exactly what is sluggish? everything? Actually, yes, it does feel like everything is sluggish, but there are a few places where it feels like it has to "think" after I push a button. Maybe it wouldn't seem that way to someone who never used the app within livecode or within the simulato...
