Camera obscura

Is there a way to access the built-in cameras on laptops and desktop machines running OS X?

in Livecode go to menu "Help" and select "Release Notes".
This will open a PDF file, where you search for:
"Mac – revCapture video capture library (4.6.1 – experimental )".
It's at age 23 in Livecode version 5.5.4.
No idea why this is still marked a "experimental"?!
I have not worked with this so far, so please tell us your experiences
after you got it working
