I don't know if this is the right place in the forum, but here we go.
I am interested in whether images can be overlaid in an image area?
I would like to load one image or picture in the image area and then annotate that image with boxes, lines and text from the tools menu.
Any help on this?

You really did not made any tiny test with an image and a text field?

I tried to load an image into the image area and the tried invoking some of the sketch tools. For some reason, the pen, line and rectangle tool don't do anything.
Any examples our there?

Hi Clarence,

the PAINT tools only work with imported not with referenced images.
For better results (anti-aliasing!) I would use the DRAWING tools however.

Do your annotations and then export a SNAPSHOT of the image area for best results.
