Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Ha, Ha, Ha; Richmond puts his foot in his mouth for the 99th time . . .
. . . well, at least as far as the MacOS 14 beta 4 revision goes, as it has 'mysteriously' become available about 15 minutes after my recent post.
It will, however, have to wait until bedtime or thereabouts as have some other 'house keeping' to do as have been away from my Mac Mini for 9 days.
I do NOT expect LC 9.6.3 (and backwards) to work on this 'upgrade' as it is, supposedly, only a patch on beta 4 for some holes in beta 4's underpants.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
The recently released version of 9.6.9 with the MacOS 14 hotfix DOES run . . .

Unexpectedly, the MacOS 14 beta 4 revision brings no joy . . .
I would assume the 9.6.9 hotfix is a comparatively small change . . .

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Looking closer at things I found out this:
"exiting on signal 11 zsh: segmentation fault"
and I found out this as well:
"Signal 11 (SIGSEGV, also known as segmentation violation) means that the program accessed a memory location that was not assigned to it.
That's usually a bug in a program. So if you're writing your own program, that's the most likely cause."
Of course, WHY this should happen on MacOS 14 and NOT on MacOS 13 is the BIG question.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
doing this:
chsh -s /usr/local/bin/zsh\
beyond changing the Zsh I use did NOT help at all:

Mind you: the new version of LC 9.6.9 would not start that way either.

Unexpectedly, the MacOS 14 beta 5 revision brings no joy . . .
. . . with LC 9.6.3 Community.
Although, oddly, the 'old' version of LC 9.6.9 does seem to run as well as the modded version.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Nor does the sixth beta (which Apple calls 'beta 4' - go figure).

MacOS 14 'Snowman' RC also DOESN'T, working on the theory that in about 2-3 weeks I'll be reverting to MacOS 13 . . . Unless . . .

NO: the latest RC candidate for macOS 14 'Sonoma' also does not run LC 9.6.3

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
So, the 'Final Vinyl' of MacOS 14 'Sonoma' slipped out like a thief in the night [NO Mac 'developer conf.],
Obviously Craig F's hairstylist was having an 'off' day.
and I am reliably informed that the last beta version (which I installed the other day) is the same:
"If you installed the 2nd release candidate, build 23A344, there's nothing for you to upgrade to as that release candidate was what was released to the public yesterday."
So, NO: LC 963 or previous will do anything on MacOS 14 (and, presumably, subsequent releases of the MacOS), and I have timetabled October 15th for my attempt to get my Mac Mini back to MacOS 13 'Ventura' . . . Blast!

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
I upgraded to Sonoma and now LiveCode 9.6.3 Community has stopped working. I can't test the newer versions to see what does work, so can someone post what does work with Sonoma.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
ONLY the most recent commercial version runs on Sonoma.
So the possibilities are:
1. Rob the bank for LC Commercial.
2. My stupid temporary solution:
I have been running LC 9.6.3 for Windows on MacOS 14 Sonoma under WINE: which is a right pain.
3. Reset your machine {Time Machine!] back to MacOS 13 Ventura.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Hopefully a member of staff from LC lt. can confirm if there is a version that officially supports MacOS Sonoma yet.
I know that 9.6.9 included a fix to work with Sonoma beta. However there is no such statement in the new-style release notes (no longer a document but a blog post) - either for 9.6.10, or 10 DP6 (unless I missed it?)
These versions may well work with Sonoma but may not do, and I can't chance it as I'm in the middle of a few critical projects so I'm reluctantly sticking with Ventura for the time being.
Given that the Sonoma upgrade also includes security enhancements this is pretty crucial, so hopefully we'll have word soon...
Also - a request to the LC team: would it be possible to have a list of supported OS's with each 'announcement' of new versions if that's possible please.

Re: MacOS Sonoma Beta
Do the 9.6.10 LiveCode files open in 9.6.3 Community?
