Does anyone have the link in the qdb for the installer not launching when the box is checked on the last screen? I was testing the latest dp 9.6.x on Windows 8.1, ran the installer, checked the 'launch' box, got the sign up screen, skipped it, and ... nothing.

For some reason, I thought that only happened on 'nix boxen but apparently not so much. I couldn't find the already existing bug for it, so I'd appreciate it if anyone has the link for it.

Can't remember. I think it got fixed for one version of LC on Windows but regressed immediately in the next version. It's generally never worked as long as I can remember though.

After all you can launch it from the Start Menu.

Thank you so much SparkOut, I'm not sure why I couldn't find it searching the db, at one point I used "Install" as the only part of the inquiry, it should have come up. Only thing I can think of is that perhaps it is because it is marked 'fixed', but of course it is not.

Well, as for importance, if your brand new to using this, first impressions only happen once. If your first impression is that the company producing the language can't get something as simple as getting the product to start when they offer you that option, you might keep on going, or you might think to your self "huh, must not be very easy at all" and walk away.

People are funny when you give them a choice about anything, but the choice that is offered doesn't happen. Kinda like you have a button that is supposed to answer "Hello, World!" and instead when clicked, nothing at all appears to change. After all, you can certainly open up a text editor and type in "Hello, World!", but that isn't really the solution now, is it?

If the reasoning is that it can't be fixed, then the option should be flat out removed, which would for sure fix the issue. No option, no bug to fix (but that is still pretty lame).

I also complained when I thought it was only linux that didn't work on

Did you install for Everyone or You Only?

I only ever install for me only, regardless of using Linux or Windows. I don't have anyone else using my system.

There was once a problem with the launch-after-install feature on Linux, but only if one installs for "You Only" (which I tend to do, like you).

I wonder if this issue with Windows could be related.

Odd that it doesn't affect Win10, though.

It felt creepy enough to me to have to install 8.1 (school related, certainly not *MY* choice ). If I have to run windows, I'd certainly have chosen an older version, like XP, unfortunately the software needed (aside from Lc) requires 7 ->, and I don't have 7.

If I remember correctly, the initial problem on 'nix with it wasn't actually related to who you installed for, but that it was looking for a file name that was changed. I actually wonder if this is something similar.

It DOES affect Windows 10 (and back as far as XP).

There was one LC version which launched after install. I can't remember which. The next release reverted. This has been the case for every combination of LC and Windows I can remember, bar that one version.

Apart from adding my comment to the bug report, it wasn't a big enough deal to make any beef about. There are plenty of other bugs that don't seem to get attention that are more significant.
