Datagrid

I've taken a look at the sample code for a datagrid in LiveCode 4.6. I really like the idea of using a datagrid to display information. How would I read data from a SQLite table into a datagrid? In the example, the data is stored in a custom property of the card. What do they mean by a custom property of the card?
