Erratic behavior from altButton DropTool

Is anyone else using the altButton droptool? I like it because it makes nice looking cross-platform buttons, but I'm seeing strange behavior. At times I am losing the hilite gradient from the buttons. No idea why. I can restore the look if I open the altInspector and turn the hilite "off" and back to "normal" but this appears to be only temporary.
