Re: Devawriter Pro
So after a hiatus (meaning that I went through a load of versions and am now well into my 5th SDLC, and did not note that here), here, without further ado is Devawriter 5.1:

Re: Devawriter Pro
And now version 5.2.0 is a fairly important update as it now implements the proper symbol for the upadhmānīya voiceless bilabial fricative used in certain Vedic texts.

Obviously this involves an updated version of the Devawriter.ttf font as well, both for the upadhmānīya and its Latin transliteration.
It is available for download here:

Re: Devawriter Pro
Version 5.2.1 implements the upadhmānīya voiceless bilabial fricative for Grantha script, and starts a development cycle devoted to making the Grantha script implementation far better.

Version 5.2.4 implements the Vedic breathy voiced retroflex lateral approximant.

Re: Devawriter Pro
"Elvis has left the building."
Owing to a number of factors my Devawriter Pro is no longer being developed using LiveCode.
Devawriter Pro is continuing to be developed however.

Re: Devawriter Pro
Hello Richmond,
I would have liked to learn Sanskrit because it is really a writing with magnificent characters and because it would have allowed me to use your software!
And this is not a joke ...
I must admit that you regularly bore me (but not always) with your untimely interventions (a forum called: "Richmond62" should be created on this platform!), but I have respect for the programmer and creator of Devawriter!
It seems to me that it is one of these applications that contribute to giving credibility to the use of Livecode as a programming tool.
So I'm rather sad to hear that Elvis will now be performing in Las Vegas.
Can you specify which solution you have chosen to replace LiveCode?
Good luck in any case.

Re: Devawriter Pro
By moving to using another programming system I do not in any way want to state that LiveCode is not a fantastic programming tool: it is!the use of Livecode as a programming tool.
My move says more about my budget restraints than anything about LiveCode.
I also am well aware that, had I the money to afford a licence for LiveCode, that that would expire in about 3 years: and I do NOT want to use CREATE.
I am also well aware that by 'jumping ship' just now I am not risking an awful lot of "dialect divergence" come the time when I would be forced to jump.
The simple fact is that 98% of Devawriter Pro was made with RunRev/LiveCode, and to pretend that the newer version was written 100% in the new thing I am using would be simply dishonest.
Re: Devawriter Pro
Thank you for these precisions.
