Widget for mobile sockets

Been waiting for about a year for LiveCode to be able to natively create mobile sockets (no 3rd party). So now LiveCode 8 can!? As popular a request is for this, I would have thought that the LC team would have already posted a working widget to do this. Am I right that a widget is the only way mobile sockets is going to work in LC 8? Anybody got plans for developing an IOS AND Android mobile socket widget?
