Input data from USB Scantron

I'm trying to write a Livecode app on a Mac OS (Yosemite) that would input scanned exam data from a Scantron machine with a USB connection. Back in the day, I did this successfully with Supercard and a serial port connected Scantron, a machine which is showing its age. Any help would be appreciated.
