Personally, I prefer freeware. Two free yet professional DVD rippers:

* WinX DVD Ripper (easiest DVD ripper for Windows that I ever try.)

* HandBrake (very good open source in my opinion, for both Mac and Windows)

It's exciting to find that something free can perform like commercial programs do. lol
