Can one use OS X's Character Viewer to enter special characters into fields?

Odd. I can use Character Viewer to enter special characters into Word, then copy and paste the text snippet into the LiveCode field, but I cannot use the Viewer to enter special characters into the field directly.

Hmmm...it appears to be hit and miss depending on what characters you are trying to drop in.

EDIT: and where you are trying to drop them. The code editor seems to be the least accepting.
