tabbing between fields: development vs simulator

Hi, I have a few fields on a card. In the development environment when I use the tab key it cycles from field to field. When I run this same stack in the iOS simulator (set for iPad) it actually inserts a tab in the field. Is there a workaround that will make it function like in the IDE?
