Test button greyed out

I know it has been discussed often. I'm in the trial phase. I think I've tried everything, yet remains the test button is disabled: LC Trial 5.0.2, Xcode 4.2.1, made all as described in lesson sheep herder, Livecode>Preferences>Mobile Support set the dev root for iOS 5 and above. In StandaloneAppSettings the option menu<Profile> is disabled (none). Is it necessary to be an enrolled member at Apple?

I don't think you need a profile to test in the simulator. In the standalone settings under iOS, make sure the Build for iOS box is checked. If that doesn't solve it, then open Mobile Support and look at "Available Simulators:". If it doesn't show any, you need to set the "Location of developer root..." field (typically /Developer unless you've moved the SDKs).

CALL-151 thanks for answering.
The iOS box is checked. In <Mobile Support> the Location of developer root iOS 5.0 is set to /Developer (where my Xcode is really stored). Available Simulators: 5.0
Test button still disabled.

in LC, menu development/test target and choose a simulator, then the button is magically active.
It should have been clearer in the doc...
