Best practice for supporting retina graphics on iPad (3)

Hi All,
I'd like to officially say my iPad onle app is "updated for retina", so what's the best practice for setting up my iPad app? Is it the same as this article for the iPhone:
http://lessons.runrev.com/s/lessons/m/4 ... na-devices
For the most part my app is using a browser control to display html content, so at least all the text looks super sharp on the new iPad(3). But my button graphics are a little on the fuzzy side. So do you create an app at 2048x1536 and scale the other version down to 1024? Or does that look bad? what's the best way of going about it? I didn't find that article above to be super helpful I must confess, perhaps I'm just being thick though.
Any help as always appreciated!
Cheers
Dale
