I had to pull an app from app store because I noted that with Accelerated Rendering on, the App only crashes in 1st Gen iPad, but not in the 2nd or 3rd Gen iPad. Works fine when I turn off acceleratedrendering....but some animation are slow....any thoughts?

Hi,
On the app store, you can indicate which devices are compatible. Can't you just indicate that iPad 1 isn't compatible?

I've found out that it was the upgrade to Livecode 5.5.2. When I recreated my app with 5.5.1 the crash went away.
I don't know how many 1st gen iPads are out there, but this is a bit embarrassing as everytime I do an update, there is about 15 to 20,000 updates download. There's probably been some 100,000 downloads in the last 1 year including updates and new purchases. The last thing I want is 1 star posting stating the game crashes. So now there will be a 1 week delay for the bug update to occur.

Did you submit a bug report? The engine should never crash, they need to know about it.

Hi Dixie,
Using XCode 4.5
Noted Livecode 5.5.3 still crashes in first Gen iPad. But 5.5.1 doesn't when Accelerate Rendering is set to true. Therefore I went back to 5.5.1 of livecode. Would Arm v6 or V7 v. universal have anything to do with it?

I created a sample stack with 2 cards and 1 icon on each card. accelerated rendering was set to true; The two icons on the two cards just go back and forth between the two cards. after 35 back and forth between the two cards, it crashes. so beware in writing iPad Apps for first generation iPad. As my App is geared towards small children, autism, special ed, Speech language pathology, a lot of iPad 1 are still out there especially in the classrooms and educational purchases. So I hope there is no classrooms out there that had updated and now all App is crashing!!! hopefully bug fix on app store Nov 2nd in time for the iPad Mini
