I received a newsletter http://www.runrev.com/newsletter/februa ... etter3.php about Livecode 5.5.4

This release is important if you are trying to build apps for iOS. You can now build LiveCode apps for iOS 6.1, using Xcode 4.6. Armv7 device builds are now produced using the iOS 6.1 SDK and testing with the 6.1 simulators is now possible.

Does somebody know where we can download this update?

1. I cannot afford it
2. it is just too expensive in my opinion.

Filler to get rid of the "Your message contains 6 characters. The minimum number of characters you need to enter is 10." nonsense!

Just so that newcomers aren't misled:

RR does send information to all their customers about their products. Obviously they want to keep the customers informed. The purpose of the developer program is not to learn about new products (though they do learn about them earlier) but to influence the development of the next engine. The developer participants can suggest new features, discuss language/syntax changes, and contribute to the direction the next version will take. They also have direct access to the RR engineers, who participate on the list, and can get immediate responses about various issues. There are other benefits too, including future roadmaps and company direction as a whole. In other words, the developer program gives you direct access to the team while active development is happening.

There is a free trial available in the Getting Started area of the web site. You don't have to pay.

No one in the community officially beta tests. The developer program does get pre-release versions for feedback purposes, and of course bugs are reported against those, but the primary purpose of the pre-release versions is to get feedback about changes or additional features. If you don't want to run the pre-release versions, that's fine, you can wait until the final one is released.

Note the free trial has been expanded to 60 days. I found the link by simply typing "free trial" into the search box. Guglielmo's link works too.

Obviously, this doesn't work for me. I already have an account. I just need to download a trial once in a while. Sometimes I need it for a demonstration for friends and sometimes I need it because I want to know whether the new version is worth buying. Unfortunately, it is impossible for existing customers to download a new trial version.

I think the purpose of the trial is for new customers. You should be able to make an upgrade decision based on release notes.
