Still OK with Apple to develop for iOS 7 with RunRev?

Can I assume that the email I got today from Apple does not apply to those of us clever enough to use runrev instead of Xcode?
From Apple today:
"Make sure your apps work seamlessly with the innovative technologies in iOS 7. Starting February 1, new apps and app updates submitted to the App Store must be built with Xcode 5 and iOS 7 SDK. Learn more about building apps for iOS 7."
Just checking to make sure I didn't miss something.

I was just about to ask the same thing.
I just opened that email myself.
My first thought was "OK thats the end of that then".
I mean it sure does look like Apple have had enough of poor quality apps swamping the app store from High level language platforms like Livecode among others.
But i do hope i am wrong

You could file an RQCC to update the SDK version LC uses, but I'd guess RunRev already got the same email and are working on it.

What is an RQCC..?
I can't find any definition of that acronym related to this.

Pardon the old-school jargon - these days it should be the LCQCC - LiveCode Quality Control Center, the main place to submit bug reports and feature requests:

Ah i see
Given the implications of the Apple announcement more thought. And i doubt there will be a long term issue.
LC is already building against a version of Xcode isn't it.
It's likely just a formality for the Livecode team to keep on top of this.
Lets just hope its not Apple first move in a longer term strategy to get rid of the likes of us

There will be many developers keen to see the answer to this thread right here. I was about to ask the same question after receiving the same Apple email.
If someone finds something out please could you be kind enough to update this post.

They went down that road once before, so while we can't rule it out, the backlash they experienced proved more than they could bear and they backpedaled within a few months. If they were to pull that now, with their market share losses against Android even affecting tablets now, it would likely be too much for them to recover from gracefully.

I read this email from Apple before I saw the 'panic' posts on the forum... We will have to wait and see what news comes out of 'RunRev'. Though on first reading, my interpretation when using liveCode to compile for iOS is that you must have xCode 5 installed and select '7.0 or later' in the iOS pane of the 'Standalone settings'... nothing less will do.
I tend to side with Richard Gaskin's thoughts on this...

LOL.
The app store is not the only place to sell or purchase apps.

This announcement has me a little worried to be honest...
I'm simply not smart enough to learn Objective C so if they can LC my iOS Coding days are over...

I had the impression all that's being required is bumping the SDK up one version from what LC curremtly uses. Did I miss something?

Yes, myself and two others are in the same situation.
I haven't even tried yet.
The other two have and are not interested.
I am smart enough to know I don't want to torture myself for months if not years trying.
That's why I chose LiveCode in the first place.

True, this point means that we all need to start using LC 6.1.2+ for iOS
Dixie wrote:select '7.0 or later' in the iOS pane of the 'Standalone settings'
False, this is just a plist setting indicating which versions of iOS your app supports. You can build an app against iOS 7 SDK and still support iOS 5 if you want although these days there probably isn't much point supporting iOS 5.
The main impact for LC users is the hoops RunRev have been going through to allow people to keep using older versions of Xcode and OS X will no longer work and everyone will need ML+ and Xcode 5+ and LC 6.1.2+…
