Free Developer Program Gone?

Hi,
I am a newbie to LiveCode, but trying to look at all the options.
Am I being a bit stupid, or is it now impossible to get the required certificates to test on an IOS device from LiveCode for free, and instead now have to pay th $99 (or £60) to be part of the developer program.
I don't really want to do that at the moment if I can help it, as I am not 100% certain that I will continue to develop with LiveCode due to other commitments - I am just wanting to try stuff out before I take the potential plunge.
Hope that all makes sense, if anyone can help that would be appreciated.
Thanks
Wayne.

HI Wayne,
1. welcome to the forum!
2. No idea if there has been a free Apple Dev account in the past, but no more today.
You have to pay the 99 dollars to be able to test your app even on your OWN iDevice!
Thank you Steve!
Best

Thanks Klaus,
Think RunRev need to update their documentation then as it still says that you can get the certificates for free.
Rather frustrating as I am only a hobbyist but there you go.
Thanks Again
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
Where do you see documentation for free development cert? The Apple developer program has always had a cost associated with it.
You can still do iOS testing using the simulator for free (I'm pretty sure that is true even with the community version, you just need commercial for uploading to the app store).
Now Android

HA!
Some Bogart quote about not needing stinking stuff.

OK, I must be doing something wrong then as I can't seem to get a provisioning profile without paying to become part of the iOS Developer Program. I can run the simulator in X-Code but for free, Live Code won't let me run the simulator, or even create and iOS Standalone, without this profile - but as I say I could be doing something wrong.
All help appreciated!
Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wanye,
Sorry we got our wires crossed.
No, you cannot test on a device without an iOS Developer licence.
No, you cannot build a standalone without an iOS Developer licence.
Yes, you must pay for the licence.
I am surprised that the sim does not work, I thought people were testing using the community version to see if they should upgrade to the commercial version.

As long as you have LiveCodes mobile preferences looking at your instance of Xcode, then you do not need an iOS developer account to test on the simulator. Our iOS documentation here
http://lessons.runrev.com/s/lessons/m/4 ... -developer
stated that membership is free but this relates to when Xcode was acquired from the iOS developer portal and not via the App Store (membership is still technically free, you only pay if you want to join the paid for iOS developer program)
However, if you do not pay, as other members have mentioned, you will not be able to test on any physical device (as certificates/provisioning profiles are needed)
I have updated the documentation to make these items clearer.
Kind Regards,
Neil Roger

Thanks for all the replies.
I have the mobile preferences looking at my Xcode app, but I still don't see the option to test in the simulator (Test icon is greyed out)
I'll have another look tomorrow when I am slightly more awake to confirm.
Thanks
Wayne.

OK, I must be doing something stupid here, but I can't use the Test button to try in a simulator.
I am only trying existing scripts at the moment, just trying to get a feel for everything.
I have Xcode 5.0.2 installed, and in Mobile Preferences it is pointing to the correct place. It says I have iPhone and iPad 7 available and there is a green square.
I have ensured that Build for iOS is ticked in the standalone App settings.
Still no button, or menu option to Test in an Emulator.
Anyone point me in the direction of what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Wayne.

The last step is to choose a test target in the Development menu.
