iPhone only app rejected because doesn't support iPad

My iPhone only app is in desperate need of an update to work on iOS8. The new build using LC 6.7.4 fixes the mobilepick issue and it works perfectly on the device (though it's quite slow on iPhones 5 and below on iOS8). HOWEVER Application Loader complains the new build doesn't support previous devices (ie iPad which I never included as being supported) so it won't upload. Just for fun, I also checked the build for iPad box in standalone application settings, and quicker than you can blink an eye, the app was up and waiting for review. The reviewers then rejected it because, of course, it looks crappy on an iPad. Nobody has ever downloaded this app to an iPad, because it doesn't even appear in the store for iPad. Why is it perceived as being for both iPhone and iPad now, when it was only ever for iPhone?

Hi Susan,
You may have initially set deployment platforms to "iPod, iPhone & iPad" when first uploading your app to the store, this will then mean that it will work on all platforms. If this is the case, then you will need to included support for iPad also.
I can easily check if this is the case if you give me the name of your app and I will try and search for this on my iPad.
Kind Regards,
Neil Roger

Thanks, Neil! It is "Scales Tutor for iPhone". "Scales Tutor" (without iPhone after it) is the version for iPad. They do the same things, but "Scales Tutor" (the one dedicated for iPad) shows the grand staff with both clefs as an option and does a few more things because of the larger display. When I do a search for "Scales Tutor for iPhone" using my iPad, it doesn't show up. "Scales Tutor" does, though. When I search for "Scales Tutor for iPhone" using my iPhone, it does show up.

Hi Susan,
Managed to find your apps in the store. It does seem like your "Scales Tutor for iPhone" is iPhone only as when I install this on my iPad (by force searching iPhone apps only), then the 2x & 1x magnification icons are present (which would suggest an iphone only app). Please see the below screenshot which show this.
As this is occuring, could it be that you are trying to upload the ipad version of your app and this is why Apple are picking up on the discrepancy? I would double check your app names and identifiers to make sure they are for the correct app.
If this fails, then I would raise this with Apple support as they should be able to give you more information to why iPad is not required for your app.
Kind Regards,
Neil Roger

Neil, I blush to say I made a typo in the display name. Thanks for the advice. Of course, now, in typical wack-a-mole fashion, I have a new problem getting it onto my iPhone to test it: "the info.plist specifies a CFBundle Executable which does not exist". And Application Loader chimes in that "the bundle does not contain a bundle executable".

I found I could actually call iTunes Connect support, and I spoke with someone who saw that my original app description only included it being for iPhone, not iPad. I think they must have done something there, because after that, I successfully uploaded the updated version which works with iOS 8. I just found out it doesn't size properly on iPhone 6, as it does on 6 plus or iPhone 5. If it's not one thing it's another.
