Subscription Based Apps

Hi, I just discovered Apples' Subscription based App capability.
Is it possible to have an app on the App Store on a subscription basis?
It kind of looks like you need a shell of some kind and then purchase the Apps capability from within that shell using the "In App Purchase" feature.
Is the case?
I don't really want to sell content from within the app I want the whole app to be a subscription.
Help anyone?,
