Dictionary has vanished

Post by grovecat » Thu Sep 27, 2012 8:55 am

Suddenly there is no response to the Dictionary button or to Dictionary under the Help menu. Using 5.5.2, but I don't think it relates to my update to that version.

Any ideas how I can restore it?

TIA
Don

Hi Don,

no idea what happend, but I would de-install and then re-install Livecode.
That should help and is probably much faster than trying to find the reason for the disappearance. :D

It might have poofed off screen.

If you open the message box after attempting to open the dictionary, and type
put the openstacks
does revDictionary show up?

If so you can

set the loc of stack revDictionary to the screenloc
And see if it will materialize.

I've seen this happen on dual monitor setups. Usually after a monitor was disconnected, then even if re-connected the dictionary ends up somewhere in limbo. (Not sure if it can happen other ways or not, but its worth a check)

Thanks guys

sturgis, it did turn out to be off screen even though I don't have an external monitor. However, a few days ago I did give Air Display a try using my iPad, so I guess it was something to do with that (although I did not put the dictionary on it).

So all is well.

Cheers
Don
