Professional Indemnity/Cyber Insurance

I am about to start testing and hopefully sell an application. I intend to use a website to download demos, and eventually sell applications from the website. For the UK, what insurance is available for professional indemnity and cyber insurance - such as the unintentional transmission of malware or a virus - thought I very much doubt I have such a thing as all precautions are taken.

Thanks

Andy

I'm not familiar with such an option, but I'm curious as to how much those premiums are, and what the underwriter requires in terms of developer efforts to minimize exposure.

Doesn't this get covered in the EULA?
Some fine print line that says "The end user agrees to take all responsibility"?

Hi Richard and Simon

Up until yesterday I had been given three quotes to cover such insurance, until I read more carefully the small print, and they made contradictory statements that I would be covered against accidental virus transmission, and then later that this was excluded! One policy that I will need to find out more about is by HISCOX - www. hiscox.co.uk - which is its E-risks insurance. Do not know what the premium is yet, or user requirements, but will let you know.

I do have an EULA which includes something like the end user takes all responsibility. However, I have a primary school that is willing to test my software, and this is where my concern lies.

I am almost 100% sure that my systems are virus and malware free. Can one be ever 100% sure? I develop on an iMac with OSX 8. I use Intego to protect the machine. I scan regularly and keep my malware/virus defns. I use different user setups from developing to general work, and so on.
