Need your help - Have 100 US$

For some time I have been involved with something called The Global Ability Initiative - the aim has been creating gratis FOSS software for disabled and we've done some apps from early DOS to Windows to Linux.

Then we began experimenting with HTML5 and things were progressing til repeated cyberattacks along with a slew of other things put the efforts to a slow crawl… however time has come to regain momentum and I hope someone her might be up to the task and able to give a hand.

You see we were looking at creating a HTML app (cross platform) to replace the cardboard pointing boards that exist for hospital use, we have the symbols courtesy of a specialist organization and I did recordings (albeit in Danish) of all the words. (I will have it produced in english as soon as the app is in a POC state)

I was trying to illustrate and link to trial versions however the forum apparently does not allow for this and no matter what I tried it did not want to allow the post in altered form (it read the ASCII art as FORBIDDEN content I think) however if you're interested in hearing what I need and lending a hand for up to 100 US$ please jump to the bottom of the post for further information.

Oh and to RunRev sorry for not getting back on the Kickstarter teacher pledge, the teacher I intended to send to the pledgers reward event, was not available when it went down - I hope however you'd want to let another teacher participate in a similar event in the future as the pledge reward was never used. In any case great to see the progress the LiveCode project is making!

And another thing... hey this is an internet based forum right ?... hyperlinks are kind of one of the main ingredients for the internet... I'm guessing you've had problems with spammers....???

I just wished you would have validated our email address against your kickstarter pledger list and allowed me to write a truly explanatory and useful posts rather than having me jump through hoops like this.

Okay.... If you got all the way down here it means you actually care, or you're just curious and since the forum does not allow for pagenames to be posted then I challenge you with a little riddle that will make the purpose of this posting clear - If you're smart enough to add a punctuation mark and a com to my username and = livecodejob to the url (with no spacing) like if you are in one of the sub pages of my wiki - Then you can read more or less how this post was intended.

Kind Regards

Einar Petersen

Hi Einar,
Welcome to the forums!

As I understand the project, liveCode is the tool for the job except
Iteration 6

Interfacing a Cyber glove, and other i/o devices with the application to allow deaf/mutes/others to speak to the hearing via sign language and a phone.
I can't find the PDF mentioned in the "Goal"?

Oh and hey... big sympathy for all that html prototyping you had to go through :)

Ah the PDF... remnant of text from a posting - will fix as I think everything is more or less explained in the page itself :)

Yes the cyber glove, thoughts on how to interface the application

Hand interface.

It is our hope to utilize a standard VR glove or similar input device to input sign language which can then be transformed to images or sentences, thus increasing the useage potential of our applications.

A very interesting project is The Cemetech Bluetooth Dataglove (Clove 2) by Kerm Martian which can be found at PAGENAME NOT ALLOWED BY THIS FORUM - Will add to the page you already know where is... AARGH.... Anyway according to the site total cost of construction is roughly USD$60 This includes glove, bluetooth module, and charger.

Here is what he says about interacting with the glove.

Quote
"A sample translation application was built as a script for the Windows program AutoHotkey, but creating a translation layer or driver for any device would take minimal effort. The Bluetooth nature of the glove both allows connection to a wider range of devices than with other interfaces such as USB or PS/2, and of course makes usage more elegant by eliminating the need for a physical tether to the host. "
End Quote

So yeah we would like eventually to be able to interface our mobile apps with something like this and I can't see why that should not be possible using LiveCode

Oh and thanks for the symphaty on the HTML sound part, worst thing actually was that we were struck with the cyberattacks/hacking just when I was about to get something to work... but I guess you know this effect

a site called heeris

.id.au

in a folder /2013/this-is-why-you-shouldnt-interrupt-a-programmer basically explains it very well....

C'est nes pas un problem ;) (not quite sure about the spelling but think my "highschool/junior college" French will save the day)

I'll will certainly check out what you've done but also have to inform you I have actually found a hire to do the prototype. It will be released as open source, I hope within a very short time indeed. Payments have been made and I am now waiting for the prototype.

Best Regards

Hi Einar,
It is not a money question for me, I get some money to develop EcrireEnPictos.
As someone said: "together we are more clever" and I though it could be useful for your project.

Best regards

Jean-Marc
