That's queer:

I am unable to set the scroll bar so it is vertical.

Tested in 9.6.4 and 8.2.0 DP2

Err . . . OK . . .

just drag the selection handles . . .

. . . unintuitive.

The SCALE on a scrollbar does NOT extend for its full length so it is
useless for measuring things.

All the things you mentioned are in the dictionary. You cannot set the "orientation", as this is read-only. You do indeed have to drag the handles until either the height or the width is the greater.

The scale (only on a "scale"-type scrollbar) always use goes from one end to the other. Are you sure your "thumbSize" is not too great? Or that graphic is not somehow messing things up?

They probably are, but, in the same way as my glasses are under the sofa . . .

If one knows the right key-word almost everything is in the dictionary: but the
problem is getting the keyword.
