Yet another epiphany

A few months ago I posted a thread stating that after two years of playing at this stuff, I finally 'got' RunRev.

Well, if there's anyone else out there wondering whether to buy this new bundle and take the plunge into the Rev world, hear this for a bit of a story.

I bought the MegaBundle simply because I was given the money from a friend for doing them a favour, so I thought, heck, I've got a few ideas that I could probably do with the new stuff, I'll go re-invest in this ailing economy of ours.

Within two days of downloading every package, I'd written a tool to help one of our customers manage a complex database that we're currently writing for them. The system we're writing is web-based, but they had a need that just wouldn't work on the web and it was a one-off. We'd played with Excel a bit and we faced the prospect of waiting unti after Christmas to get something finished.

Blam - RunRev app using ListMagic, absolute doddle, job done. Customer paid whole bill early, we bought a coffee machine for the office, everyone's happy.

Second app I wrote was a tool to manage our shareclub dealings. Every month we have to put up with spreadsheets which we still have to fight with to work out our current worth, our shareholdings and profit/loss.

One wet Saturday I sat there and wrote a tool that managed the lot with tabs, graphs and internet access.

Bl-00-dy marvelous.

I got help from this forum and sat through some of the lessons (especially the 'tab' one, it was a mystery until I read that, turns out it's easy).

Anyway, just in case you wondered, I have absolutely no connection with RunRev, all I know is that they're in Scotland which although a wonderful country, I pity them because the beer is awful. However the Whisky is fantastic, but I can get that from Asda.
