Livecode.tv needs you

Post by BvG » Tue Aug 16, 2011 4:38 am

I mean you specifically.

To continue the livecode.tv event, we need presenters. please consider doing a tutorial, or introduce a stack that you made, or a commercial project where you used LiveCode.

See also here:
http://livecode.tv/participate/

In addition, I will not have as much time as the beginning of the year. Mark is trying to help a lot, but we will need at least one other organiser who can lead trough at least one event per month. Ideally we'd be four people, so that everyone can do one week per month. It'd include asking people to present, lead trough events, and ideally also have ideas and time to invest for making the event better.

If we can't find a third person who reliably organises, the event will die.

cheers

So no one actually wants these events to happen?

I enjoy them and find them useful.

I usually watch them after the event!

I would like to see them continue.

Hi Björnke,

RE: 'So no one actually wants these events to happen?'

I do not get a chance to view live as the kids always seem to be around. But I make a point of catching up when the vids are posted.

It's a great asset and I for one would like it to continue but I can see the problem you're up against in getting contributors, LiveCoders with sufficient knowledge and maybe even the confidence to do a live stream are also proberbly the same people who would not have the time because of their deveolpment/work commitments.

I think if you had the additional option of LiveCoders (is that a real word?) to be able to maybe produce pre-recorded videos to be used when live sessions are not available you may find that you start to build a fall back resource of not only material for broadcast but also a larger pool of presenters.

I would love to contribute a pre-recorded video but I cannot think what I would be able to offer... still working on this.

I've been out of the LiveCode loop for a while but now getting back on board. Recently moved from the UK to Germany and have had a lot to sort out, accommodation, schools, doctors, etc,etc..not easy as my German is not that good...yet! A big benefit of the move (my wife is the main income source - one of those very clever scientist types) is that I'm now self employed so able to devote more time to Coding and web development which is my main profession. I now have an On-rev server account so will be playing with this for a whle, so maybe this will lead to some material in the future.

Anyway just some suggestions, keep up the great work.
Andy .... LC CLASSIC ROCKS!

Hi Andy,

I see your reply just now. I you had contacted us directly, I would have seen it earlier.

If I understand you correctly, you would like to prepare a video? Please, contact me or Björnke and tell us a little more about what you would like to do. Contact information is on the LiveCode.tv site or here.

Kind regards,

Mark

I'd also like to add that every user of LC can do a presentation. There is not even a need to be proficient in LiveCode itself. I'd love to get a few first impression presentations, or just stories of peoples lives and why or how they got to start using LiveCode. Maybe someone likes his other tools better then LiveCode? He could do a comparision show, etc.
