Android apps are just plain fugly what to do?

Look, I'm totally new to LC. I think the concept is great and the code is damn near English and I'm totally diggin that part. What I'm having great difficulty understanding is why everything looks just so ugly when I deploy to my emulator. I look at all this documentation, and nothing seems to jump out at me as "you fool it's right there." What the heck do I have to do to make something look professional in this tool? It ticks me off that I was able to create, connect, and add data to a database but the button looks like it's from 1994!

Can someone at least give me some hope? A screen shot of an android app that doesn't look like crap? What am I doing wrong?!?! I humbly ask someone to educate me here... ridicule me. Come to Ohio and punch me, I just waaaaaant my apps to look good!

Welcome to the forums!

You have to cut your own button images, just like in html. Set the icon of the buttons to an image.
On the way there is the kickstarter stretch goal of "Themes"

I know not so good but all the buttons there are liveCode (except the keyboard)

Just so I don't find myself killing myself in this forum too much and it seems to be a hot topic at least in the past perhaps? What about dealing with different screen resolutions? I found some details here and there, I'm running 6.5. rv4? So for example.. if there are say 4 buttons on the bottom of the screen and one screen was say 480 and another was bigger say 800 wide how to stretch and pad those? Would be willing to place in a different forum as well.

Yes, lots of people want drag 'n drop buttons with native theming. Well they expected that's what liveCode did and it is in the goals just not here yet.

What about dealing with different screen resolutions?

You should just test it yourself in the sim, I believe the code is:

set the fullscreenmode of me to "exact fit"
preOpenStack

6.5 is still very new and there aren't tutorials on using the new Resolution Independence.
I think I saw that by the end of the year 6.5 will be released as a stable version.
