Better - How-do-I-Become-an-Android-Developer-on-a-PC win32
Just realized this forum has a very small limit on upload attachments.
This is step by step screen shots of winxp 32-bit install of Android.

I think I've reproduced the bug and was lucky enough to recover.
LiveCode 4.6.1 Build 1392 - Trial
- builds Android executable OK - Test on Emulator OK
- and installs and Runs on Android Physical phone OK - for 1 minute
LiveCode 4.6.1 Build 1392 - Full License
- Tests on Emulator OK - builds Android executable OK - Will NOT install on my physical phone
LiveCode 4.6.1 Build 1390 - Trial
- Errors when trying to build to Android
LiveCode 4.6.1 Build 1390 - Full License
- Tests on Emulator OK
- builds Android executable OK
- installs on my physical phone OK
- and runs on my physical phone OK
----
Another thing that caught my eye was: (NEVER MIND - other apps run ok with this)
FIle | Standalone Application Settings... | General | Property Profiles
Even thought I have Remove all profiles on objects - ticked ON
the listbox under
- Include profiles on oject and the profile library
- was enabled (with a white background)
- even though Include al profiles was ticked OFF and Only include profiels selected below was disabled
I ticked those three setting until only Remove all profiels on objects was ticked ON - and the listbox was empty and clear.
I'm now running build 1390 without issue on winXP 32bit.

Re: Better - How-do-I-Become-an-Android-Developer-on-a-PC win32
thanks for the info.
I can understand the 1 minute restriction on a physical device, but on the emulator 1 minute is too restrictive; maybe 5 minutes would be enough...
cheers

Because I can't test an app properly, the 1 minute trial is stopping me from purchasing Livecode for Android.BarrySumpter wrote: Android Trial License test on Emulator works. (for 1 minute)

Re: Better - How-do-I-Become-an-Android-Developer-on-a-PC wi
I am looking to get the Android deployment soon, are the steps in the newer versions of livecode still the same?
Re: Better - How-do-I-Become-an-Android-Developer-on-a-PC wi
a few changes, regarding the installation of Java and Android SDK. i just did it this morning.
i would advise you to install the andoid sdk, by modifying the path : replace "android-sdk" with "android-sdk-windows"
i couldn't get livecode to recognize the path (in preferences menu). but with "android-sdk-windows" it worked.
furthermore, if you read the forum, it appears that sdk version 2.2 makes problem (black screen on the emulator).
so you should perhaps start by downloading and installing the 2.3

Has always been rediculously complex installing LC.
Getting worse now.

LiveCode is very easy to install, just a few clicks. Maybe you mean that the Android SDK is difficult to install, and I have to agree with you on that.BarrySumpter wrote:Has always been rediculously complex installing LC.

On the other hand, testing and submitting apps to the Android Market is a piece of cake compared to iOS and the AppStore. Just look at all the issues people have with Apple certificates. The system is horribly complex and inscrutable. But that's not LiveCode's fault of course; once you get it set up, LiveCode builds both iOS and Android apps easily.
