Feature Exchange * Orient DB

Post by makeshyft » Thu Sep 24, 2015 8:07 pm

Hey Livecoders,

Does anyone think that a driver for Orient DB (http://orientdb.com/why-orientdb/) would open up livecode to new frontiers? I do. I think this would round-out Livecode's DB support especially if Postgre gets funded.

Why can't we just open a feature exchange for this?...and leave it running until there is enough support to do it? and then do it!

From the OrientDB Docs

The transactional engine can run in distributed systems supporting up to
302,231,454,903,657 billion (2^78) records for maximum capacity of 19,807,040,628,566 Petabytes of data distributed on multiple disks in multiple nodes.

Whoa.

OrientDB has a native HTTP/REST API. What problems have you run into using that with LiveCode's GET and POST?

I didn't think of that.... I haven't worked with it yet, I'm not on the right project yet, though my technology research continues.

Good to know we don't need a driver..... though I bet a direct driver would enable some extra functionality...and perhaps improved performance.

The second reason for my post is to find out, if there is any problem with creating a "feature exchange" goal and keeping it running until its met, and then doing it.

Thanks Richard.
