Finding the error in the Script editor

I would love to have a way of finding the number of a particular char in a line in the script editor. This arises when one gets an error message, which tells where the error likely occurred. But if the problem is identified "near char 67" it is a pain to count horizontally.

True, sometimes it is clear in reading the line where to look, based on the information in the error message. But sometimes not.

The problem might mostly go away if the word, not the char was indicated, But I know that words are frequently duplicated in a single line, since similar objects or chunk references or whatever are commonly in close juxtaposition.

I had wondered in the mail list if a horizontal "ruler" might be possible. But since monospaced fonts are not common this is of little use.

Perhaps a toolTip sort of indicator might be possible, showing dynamically which char in the line the cursor was over. Even if you had to hold down the optionkey to invoke it, I would love that sort of feedback.
