add options to disable buggy/slow features in dictionary
LiveCode dictionary runs painfully slow and buggy, frequently crashing the LiveCode IDE. I want my dictionary to be dead simple and to respond as fast as any other window, currently I have to avoid opening it or touching it, or I risk losing my work. When I do have to use it, it responds about 2 - 5 seconds behind any user activity, resulting in lots of misclicks and therefore more delayed reponses as it tries to bring up unrequested data from hyperlinks, and constantly crashes when trying to get focus on search box. Quite simply, there are way too many reactive features/bugs to deal with, creating a very negative user experience to anyone without the patience to count to 10 to wait for it to respond. Can you give us options to disable the instant search so that it relies on a carriage return before filtering? Can you give us options to disable the syncopated scrolling? If not, can you give us an option to print the dictionary to PDF so we don't have to use it?

Anyone else ever seen this? I have not.
There is a certain delay when you first open the dictionary, but it is instantaneous afterwards.
These crashes you are experiencing are disturbing. I rarely see the IDE crash. It does, but not with dictionary stuff, at least for me.
OSX 10.6.8, MacBook Air 1.86 GHz Core 2 duo, and also on OSX 10.5.8 G5 Tower.

Wow, I've never seen this.
The Dictionary? wow.
Maybe there is something going on in the users apps script, hogging all the cpu?
As they are both LC is there some system setting that says "only allow this much bandwidth to a program"? Hey... I recall something in Mac a long time ago, was for memory settings needed to be increased for PhotoShop.

Didn't have any problems with the dictionary in the last 15 years

I can duplicate this behavior when there isn't even a stack open. Quad Core, 8GB, Windows 7 x64, OS on SSD, Programs/Files on HDD. It is probably the livecode IDE / dictionary itself, not a CPU issue, as I can open and quickly run and do other things while livecode is still thinking about if it is going to puke. Infact I could even video screencap this behavior I think.
