Apple new "iBooks Author"

Post by raulvelazquez » Fri Jan 20, 2012 6:14 pm

So, as you might know, yesterday Apple introduce iBooks Author.
Full interactive books, in those e-books you can put widgets, it should be great that RunRev code could be used in there. Please give a though on that!

Cagey idea, Raul!
Checked it out:
iBooks Author App: "Add a photo gallery, chapter review, movie, Keynote presentation, interactive image with callouts, 3D object, custom HTML anywhere in your book." (Jason Boog, Apple)

Be great to embed a LiveCode game or slideshow to market your game/whatever :D within an iBook.

The HTML code will be the one, but Im assuming that Apple will not like to put something that needs a player.
LiveCode, its a good thing to do!

It plays movies, and also 3D objects, and seems to do so in a way LC cant.
It seems to me as though it is going to enable a lot of publishers to put content onto the ipad without the need for third party programming.

I think the target for LC would be in its ability to handle interactive vr objects, pano and flip book animation. As of yet this requires JavaScripting or CoffeeScript. If LC could allow a "widget" as an output that could do this they would be the only ones. We have been kicking this subject around now since the first day of release on the forum and there is no easy answer.
