Attached file names included in search

I know posting this here doesn't get much result but:
It would be great if files that are attached to posts have their file names indexed by the search engine.
I have downloaded several files that have been really helpful but they rarely have the authors name in them. When I see a question here in the forums that one of these downloaded stacks would solve, I have not been able to find the original post. Would really like to give the credit to the author.

Other than that is it OK to re-post the stack without credit?
