Text to Speech and Record speech/sound in iOS

As developer who do a lot of Educational apps,
Text to Speech and the ability to record voice and sound.
rrMicrophone just doesn't work and I haven't had a positive response on how to make it work correctly in the forums. Also those who purchase my apps request the ability to record voices and sounds for the apps as my app are geared towards Special Education, therefore the ability to generate speech is important, else my wife has to record every word and sound.
