Personal Information Space

Current computer environments are a mix, and working with them is often technically oriented. A very good reason why RunRev works on major platforms (Unix/Linux, MacOS, Windows).

I think I have an idea that would make working with information a quantum leap ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_leap ) easier for me as an individual user, and as a group of users.

This is my brainwave...

In my LAN I have installed RunRevE3b1 on

1 my MacBook - MacOSX
2 a Norhtec MicroClient sr - http://www.norhtec.com/products/mcsr/index.html with Puppy Linux - http://www.puppylinux.org/
3 a Compaq with Windows XP

As it is now I have to do some very technical stuff (at least with my skill level), if I want to have my stacks available on all three workplaces, and I have to make backups to keep my information safe.

Here's the quantum leap: after I install instances of RunRev on the machines I use / the group uses, I can easily "pair" or "connect" them. From then on I have my Personal Information Space. Without any further intervention - all my stuff available, everywhere... and I never have to think about making backups again. Maybe there's something to learn from http://www.provue.com/Enterprise/index.html ?

Afterthought

On a windy morning on August 19, 2008, somewhere on this planet - I have written three ideas / brainwaves in this forum. Through bits and bytes, you may be reading them on the other side of this tiny globe. I hope they will not only be a donation of my time to RunRev people, but also to "the community at large"... I think computers and stuff are good tools for communicating - but we can do so much more to really make these machines work for us, and not the other way around!

I don't think he's spamming. I looked up his other two posts, and he seems sincerely enthusiastic about the possibilities with integrating Rev with his ideal workflow.

Martin, you might find poking around in RevNet to be fun. In Rev, see:
Development->Plugins->GoRevNet

It's a simple collection of Rev tools and info for developers, but some of the ideas there may help spark some of your interest in directions I think you'll find surprisingly easy to implement.

In Rev, most HTTP and FTP operations are one-liners, so making apps that download and upload stacks is a breeze.
