What is the difference between LiveCode 6.6 and LiveCode 7.0?
I upgraded to LiveCode7.0 today and I made an .apk file, but it does not run on my Android now (It ran fine when it was complied using the 6.6 version).
I tried to open in with the LiveCode version 6.6 and now it says "the file is not a stack"?
What is going on?
Thanks,
David

Re: LiveCode 7
The v7 Release Notes include a nearly-complete list of changes between 7 and earlier versions, available here and within the IDE's Help menu:DR White wrote:What is the difference between LiveCode 6.6 and LiveCode 7.0?

I say "nearly-complete" because this morning I noticed that the Release Notes don't mention the file format change, needed to accommodate Unicode support (the main set of changes in that version). I've filed a bug report against that omission here, so hopefully RC2 will include mention of that:
http://quality.runrev.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13433
LiveCode doesn't have file format changes often, but when it does the File->Save As menu item provides an option for saving in an earlier format. The formats listed are the oldest version of a given format; for v6 compatibility choose "Legacy LiveCode Stack (5.5)".
That said, I hope you'll be able to continue testing with v7 from time to time. Each of us uses LiveCode in different ways, so only through each of us testing our work with it thoroughly can we better ensure the final build does exactly what our projects need.
If you find any issues, please file a bug report so they can be addressed before the final release:

And as with all software, it's always a good idea to keep regular backups of all files you're working on. This is especially true with any pre-release software, but a good habit for all work in all apps at all times.
LiveCode v7 incorporates the most significant range of feature enhancements in the history of the product, so I hope you'll have a chance to continue to help test so we can make the final release rock-solid.

Richard,
Thanks so much for your exclamation.
I agree with you, always make backups as you develop a program.
I am look forward to V7 RC2.
Thanks,
David

Re: LiveCode 7
You forgot to mention Save as. I tried v7 didn't build on Windows. But the stack was now 7. So I had to save as 5.5? (which seems odd). But it was OK again.

Re: LiveCode 7
I had a finished windows app and when I downloaded and installed the 7 update, I then ran the project and exported it to a windows .exe and it refused to work.
Thank goodness I saved AS and still had my previous project files.
The project involved accessing a MySQL database and v7 seems not to work.
Just thought i'd add my 2 cents.
I will continue to program in 6.x until release 7 is 100% stable and works.
