"The chosen folder is not a valid iOS SDK"

Post by catman-paulio » Mon Apr 27, 2015 11:16 am

Hi,

I am finding it tricky to set up for IOS development because I keep getting this message; "The chosen folder is not a valid iOS SDK" - I get this when I go into preferences, mobile support and then try and use the Add entry button to navigate to the location of Xcode. I am using LiveCode Community version 8 and Xcode 6.3.1. I tried looking for an earlier version of Xcode in case that was the problem but couldn't find one. I am renewing my apple developer status - not sure if that is relevant.

Any easy to follow help very warmly welcomed

Thanks!

Hi catman-paulio,

1. welcome to the forum! :D

2. Unfortunately LC ist currently not compatible with Xcode 6.3x.
See this thread for more info and possible workarounds:

I have now tried with LiveCode 8 and Xcode 6.2 but still. "The chosen folder is not a valid iOS SDK". Give up and fix the lawn instead?

cheers

Hi,

I have put LiveCode on hold for several months because I could not find which combination of Xcode and LiveCode would communicate to each other. I have tried different combinations but my current set up is: LiveCode 8CE, Xcode 7.0.1 and OSX Yosemite 10.10.4. I find LiveCode intuitively appealing - but getting "The chosen folder is not a valid iOS SDK" despite trying different combinations is very off-putting.

So its January 2016 and I am trying it again - if anyone knows how to avoid that hope destroying error message I would be really grateful!

Many thanks

Catman

Hi, if you are using LC8 try Xcode 7.1.1 - also, they have started documenting which versions of Xcode are supported in the release notes
"...this is not the code you are looking for..."
