check for update not working
Hi
I have all notification set to on on both my 7.x and 6.x but not only am I not being alerted to ANY new releases but even when I click on check for updates it says no new updates.
There are at least 2 updates since my last manual update. This is on Mac OSX Yosemite. ON my pc (window 7) the check update button finds the new updates - but I am never alerted
Can anybody confirm this.

Hi Lagi,
I always go here;
http://downloads.livecode.com/livecode/
But that doesn't really solve your problem.

Re: check for update not working
Hi
Notice I said I have done manual updates since last November .... Because the check for update doesn't work. isn't that the whole point?
If it doesnt work and not going to be fixed remove the option until it is going to be fixed or is that being harsh?
Regards lagi

Hi Lagi,
Yeah, I did say it didn't really fix your problem.
I'm using LC 6.74 win 7 and I get updates all the time, have you got Notify set in your Preferences?

Re: check for update not working
Hi Simon
I have all 4 boxes ticked - I left version 6.71 (on my windows laptop) open for over 40 minutes this morning to see if I would get an alert -= I didn't, but when I pressed check update it did suggest updating to 7.x and the notification bubble came up.
On Yosemite on my mac as I said check update does not work at all.
It's not a problem as such but If I have a button that says "press here for prezzies" or you are told you will be alerted when you have prezzies, and neither happens, well it's an annoyance and I'm always curious why?
I'm not going to jump in front of a train about it just wanted confirmation if others have the same problem and they haven't said anything for half a year like me.
It was working previously though - but that was a year ago.
btw I have checked this on my lenovo laptop and my Parallels Virtual PC on my MAC to make sure it's not firewalls/host files/isp caching/blah blah
It fails every time to alert even on windows. Just to check it wasn't windows 7, I booted XP and commercial 7.04 didn't alert but found updates when I clicked and Community V 7.03 neither alerted or found updates when I pressed check for Updates - seems like there is a biased random number generator on my systems.
Anyway I've probably wasted more time than just going to the site - but if it ain't working it should be fixed or removed and have a direct link to the download site.
I'm wondering if it could be that I have more than 1 version on each machine? I will get my Deerstalker and Magnifying glass and check that possibility out on my next machine re-installation.
Regards Lagi

Re: check for update not working
Can anyone confirm if this is supposed to be fixed?
I have LiveCode Community 7.0.6 for Win and have all boxes checked to be informed of updates. However I've not been told there are any. Help - Check for Updates and the other check on the Preferences page also say "No new updates available".
Yet when I go to the downloads page (haven't permission to insert link) I see we're on 7.12 stable for Win...

Re: check for update not working
Hi Jim,
Seems it's gone the other way. Now it reminds me daily to update to 7.xx even though i'm on 6.xx and tell it to skip this version. I think it works on a random number generator and they have used the same seed lol
Just as I was about to press submit it just popped up
