@Craig,
Yes true. All stacks have to be zipped, but only because the forum software doesn't understand .rev or .lc or .livecode as recognised file types.
You wouldn't see the inline images in the forum threads if they were zipped, after all.

Images should not exceed 256 KB, which by today's standards is very small.

many apologies for being so unclear about this and despite this all your generous and patient help.

through your comments and suggestions the problem I was having of being able to reference information in a substack from what is being typed in a field of the main stack - (and still be able to continue to type in the field of the main stack!) - has now a working solution!

I guess in the rare event that anyone else is faced with a similar issue have attached the solution - its not perfect, but it works after a fashion.
