LiveCode iOS mobileplugin - getting started help

Post by Nathaniel Maras » Mon Nov 22, 2010 3:38 am

Hi there,

If this has been addressed already - forgive me and I'd appreciate a pointer to the relevant posts. I'm new to this whole thing, and purchased a personal license the other night for LiveCode and the IOS plugin for mobiles. I have a mac as well by the way.

Following the PDF that has come with the plugin, I can't seem to see for the life of me where you name or rename the stack/project following the first activity, that is to get Hello World up and running. Now, I've managed to work out how to edit a script on the button on a stack and run this through the simulator. Thats cool! But, its upon FILE>NEW MAINSTACK I get a blank tile that is titled 'UNTITLED' and there is no menu option or right mouse click (double tap) options to rename this. I get a SAVE option. Well, I try and use this and save it as Hello World.livecode and even tried variations of putting into its own folder. The problem is that the project still shows up as UNTITLED and the only way I can get to Hello World.livecode is to find this through FILE>OPEN and look for it through Finder.

I can't seem to find the entry in the iOS PDF nor the LiveCode PDF manual. Help would be greatfully appreciated...

Budding programmer in waiting....kind regards

nathaniel

Hello,

I don't think this is strictly an iOS plugin issue. (Caveat: I don't have that plugin). If you open the properties inspector for the stack then you will be able to change the default "Untitled" title of the stack to "Hello world" (or whatever you wish).

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Regards, David.

Hi Nathaniel,

please check these stacks:
http://www.runrev.com/developers/lesson ... nferences/
Since at least 95% of Livecode mobile IS in fact Livecode, these stacks are an invaluable resource, and not only for beginners!

Thanks to both of you. I will try the properties inspector again - although I didn't see the option in the IOS plugin...perhaps I need to look again. I'll also check out the developer resources or tutorials.

Thank you again. I can't wait to get started.... :D

Hi Nat,

the plugin only takes care of the other 5%, which is pure iOS stuff :D

Thank you very much for the help - it all works now and I'll just knuckle through the tutorials and lessons.
:D

Also thank you to Jacqueline from the Runtime Revolution Support for sending me those links and added information. It is helpful and I've bookmarked these on my bookmark-bar for fast reference.
