This might be kind of a simple question but it has me stumped. I have the latest live code app (5.02) in my iMac lion applications folder although it is hidden. I also have live code 5.02 in my documents folder. I was able to add all my extensions to the plugins folder there.
The problem is when i double click a live code stack it opens the live code app in the applications folder and so my plugins are not available. How can I either get live code app in my applications folder to be visible so i can access the bundle, examples, plugins etc. Or just delete it and use the one in the documents folder ?

Re: invisible livecode ap has me stumped.
look in the livecode preferences, choose files and memory on the left.
At the bottom of the screen displayed is a box that points to the root folder for all your livecode extensions. Inisde of that folder should be the externals, plugins, resources, and runtime folder.
On Windows this is in my documents\my livecode\ as the default location. Not sure where the default location is for mac but if you put your user plugins and extensions in there then every version of livecode should be able to find them.
If you want to keep the files in a different location you can change the location in preferences of course.

Hi,
I followed your directions by copying the "Plugins" folder with all my extensions in it including tmControls and DataGrid Helper, etc. and locating it in the My LIvecode folder within the documents folder. (that was the default location in the live code preferences) it asked me to restart to save changes and I did. When I restarted live code the basic extensions were in it but not the ones i mentioned. I re-navigated to the folder again and reselected it and restarted it again and same story.
What I would like to do is either show livecode in my applications folder (it is currently invisible) so i can access the bundle with the examples, extensions etc. OR delete it all together and use the visible live code app in my documents folder where I have easy access to the package bundle. There has got to be a simple answer to this.
Mac gurus please?
Thanks for your response though.
Dave

Re: invisible livecode ap has me stumped.
Are you saying your applications folder is hidden?
or..
Is is possible that your LiveCode application has been renamed to ".LiveCode" ? that is with a period in front of the name. You would need to use a terminal command to show hidden files or a utility like Onyx.
Thats the only thing I can think of.

Re: invisible livecode ap has me stumped.
Hmm starting to think i'm not understanding the question, and don't have a mac at the moment (working on that!) so I can't poke around very easily.
Ok, so things I think I understand. When you open a stack file directly, an the file association is hooked to your copy of livecode that is in the applications folder which would be why it starts up. It should be possible to change which copy of the livecode app is associated with .livecode extensions using the finder so that you can choose which app bundle is started when fired off by opening a stack file.
The standard livecode externals, plugins etc should be part of its app bundle so they should load on start no matter what you change your preference to. The preference is there to point to a central location for 3rd part/user level plugins and extensions. If you have .livecode or .rev stacks in the right folder they should load up and be available in the dev menu. Again assuming that the my livecode folder structure is set up correctly.
Not sure what you mean by "see" them. Do you mean they are NOT showing up in the development/plugins menu?
I think that what you are saying is not what i'm hearing so trying to get enough clarification to figure it where my confusion has led me astray.
