styledText not preserving line height?

I'm seeing this in a couple of different places.

In one, I created a line with a 4 pt space and carriage return to get the correct line spacing in my output. In another, I don't believe that I adjusted the spacing.

When the field (as part of a group) is copied to my output stack, the line spacing in the first case reverts to the actual line height. I also note that the greyed out text height in basic properties (fixed line height is turned off) changes from 12 to 14.

So instead of a 4 points between two lines, I get 14.

However, if I go back in and edit the comments, I get new lines that are 4 pts tall.

I can work around this with multiple fields, but I kind of need to understand how/why this is happening.

In the other case, I have a field with a full page of text and a few checkboxes at the side. The checkboxes get further out of alignment as the text lines are slightly too long once the field pastes and the styledText set. And again, the text height changes.

I just don't see why this is happening.
