Quick Question about iPhone/Android apps

Post by Lastindependent » Sat Feb 15, 2014 6:08 pm

Hi - First Congratulation on this product - it looks great from what I have seen and tried already.

While I have a programming background I'm a complete 100% novice writing phone apps - but -
I'm looking for a product that will allow me to learn how to write phone apps AND let me then publish my apps to iTunes and Google etc.

From what I have seen of LiveCode it looks great and I'm ready to put in the effort to learn it.

But before I commit to put that effort in I need to know that whe I get there LivCode can do what I want ...

I was under the impression that LiveCode could create and publish the iPhone and Android apps but somewhere in the IDE I stumbled on a dialogue box that said LiveCode needed to know where I have stored the Apple SDK and likewise the Android SDK. I'm 100% developing on Windows - so does that mean I won't be able to place the Apple SDK on my computer (even if I had the faintest clue how on earth to do that anyway).

Can I even do what I want if I'm on Windows only?

If that's not an issue - how do I then publish to iTunes and Android market?

I saw you had a seminar series for zero to hero - will that be available to purchase as videos to watch and learn from?
Does that cover installation of the SDKs?
Creation of necessary accounts on the stores?
Uploading your finished Apps?

Many thanks if you can answer these questions?

You can write and (mostly) debug your stacks for either mobile platform using a Windows machine, and you can test and publish to the Android Play Store using Windows. Apple, however, limits its simulator and publishing tools to Macs, so if you want to test in the simulator and publish for iOS you'll need to find a Mac.

Hi Lastindependent,
Also you must purchase the commercial version of liveCode to publish to iTunes. Apple does not accept open source software.
Android, just do what you like.
