Thank you for your answers.

As far as the parens, I tried to simply and ONLY remove the parens, and it stopped working again. So something is happening that makes the parens work.

I didn't realize that there was a "Contents" folder embedded within the .app file itself. So distributing simply the .app to other machines should work no matter what, eh?

I will test later.
