Why is Air Traffic Control slow on the mac but not PC?

Hi There!
So I've been digging around the Air Traffic Control game that is located in the User Samples section of the revOnline Browser and noticed some oddness between running it on a Mac versus the PC. The game runs extremely slow on the Mac (brand new iMac) but runs at a decent speed on the PC (2 year old PC). I was wondering if anyone had any insight into why this game would run so sluggishly on a Mac? At first I thought that it was the collision detection that was running, but I ripped it out and I'm still seeing the slow down after there is more than 4-5 sprites on screen.
Is there some sort of limit to the amount of sprites that Livecode can move onscreen at any given time? Does anyone have any tips on how to optimize it to run better on a Mac?
I'm in the process of making a game where it is imperative to have at least 10 sprites moving onscreen with collision detection. Would this be possible with Livecode?
Thank you for your time
