My name is Martin, I am 19, and I do not know anything about programming. Nothing at all.
I want to make a Role Playing Game that is online, 2D, and simple. Similar to "The World of Magic."
What do I have to know and what do I have to do to make a game like this?
I am planning on making this game by myself, and letting this game app be a free app. But hopefully make some cash from having advertisers advertising on my app. The main reason I want to make this app is because I want to play my own type of game.

Thank you all so much for your time to helping me out.

Hi Martin,

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your game. If you know really nothing about programming, then you might want to have a look at this list of links for beginners. If you want to release your app for iPad or Android some time in the future, you might want to read Colin's book.

LiveCode comes with large user manual in PDF form, which you can find in the Help menu. There, you will also find the LiveCode dictionary, which is really important. Search for terms like button, field, mouse, graphic, image etc. and read as much as you can.

The best way to learn LiveCode is probably by starting to make a small app and ask on this forum if you get stuck. You can also search this forum. It contains thousands of questions and almost as many answers. There is a mailing list where you can ask questions too.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

You might want to spend ten minutes going through that list of links on your site - as there are a few 404 pages in there.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi,

I have update the list. Unfortunately, the list has become quite short. If you know about any useful links, please send me a message (see signature).

Kind regards,

Mark
