Developing on Windows or Mac - Odd Text sizes between IDEs

Hi,

Wondering if I'm missing something basic and if someone could give me a pointer or two ?

Still pretty new to LiveCode and typically using a Mac running Bootcamp and Windows XP to do the majority of my development (I grew up with Win, recently moved to a Mac, installed Bootcamp/Win XP on it to give me some 'comfort' / familiar ground to revert to whilst enabling me to use older apps (paintshop etc) as and when I need to), however, with all the best intentions (blah, blah..) I found myself using Win XP on a Mac pretty much full time... and so LC was installed as a Win product...

This weekend, I decided to bite the bullet (having become a little less scared of LC  ) ) and install LC on the Mac partition where I now intend to stay ! Well that was (and remains) the idea...

First and immediate issue though - upon loading my existing (Bootcamp/XP created) 'app' into the Mac LiveCode IDE, I note that pretty much all my text appears too large and requires a font reduction to suit the existing field / button sizes... All was OK in the Win XP LiveCode IDE but... hmmm... If I then modify my text to suit the Mac IDE, save my code and re-open the app in Win (Bootcamp and Parallels) I have text that is now too small !!! Grrr... (Just for info, I was using the Arial and Comic Sans fonts)

I haven't yet actually transferred anything to a mobile device but that now also worries me !

Am I doing something wrong or... Maybe, my selection of the 'Comic Sans' font is a mistake (for numerous reasons :) ) If so, Is there a list of 'standard' cross-platform fonts I can use ? Just a thought !

Help please ? ? Any and all would be much appreciated !

Tia.

Regards.

Hi,
this is normal if you don't use cross-platforms fonts ... for OSX, Win and Linux, this link can be useful : http://hyperactivesw.com/resources_fonts.html, for iOS and Android ... Google is the answer ;)

Guglielmo

P.S. : And also with this, some common fonts are really represented different in differente OS ... :(

Thanks Guglielmo.

I hadn't noticed this with other SDKs I'd used but then I hadn't designed a GUI with so much text data on it :(

Never mind.I've read the article - useful - and I'm still researching Google whilst taking the article's advice to oversize somewhat my fields and stick to fonts that have similar properties across Mac and Windows... Android will come in time...

Once again, thanks a million - appreciated.

Regards.
