LiveCode server involved?

Hi all,

I'm totally new to LiveCode. Sorry if I ask something very simple.

I am asked to build a mobile app that gives users to view news/information. In the mean time, a system manager can update news/information on some sort of Content Management System. Users may register and post what they want to say.

Do I need LiveCode Server involved? How may I make use of database?

If yes, how can I get started as it seems livecode server cannot be downloaded at the moment.

Thanks a lot in advance for any advise!

Michael

Hi Michael,

1. welcome to the forum :-)

2. No, Livecode server is not neccessary!
ANY server can do what you are trying to achieve!

But you can of course do all this WITH Livecode server,
which is "just" another, but well-known server-side scripting language ;-)

Best

Klaus

Thank you!!!!

Ciao, Mariasole -

LiveCode Server is late to the open source party, but is coming. It's code base had fallen a little behind the IDE's version, but they're updating it and hopefully it'll join the rest of the open source LiveCode releases within a few more weeks at the outside (fingers crossed).
